Suzak Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the village of Suzak, Fergana Depression. O.S. Vyalov, 1935 (155, p.280). Stratotype in the area of the city of Isfara, Fergana Depression.
Synonym: Suzakskaya Svita, Suzak Mountain, Сузакская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Green, greenish-gray, lilac, silty (aleurolitic) clays with interlayers of low-power sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), phosphorite nodules, and siliceous streaks. Thickness up to 65m. In the W. Fergana, the Suzak Fm includes red, brownish-brown clays with interlayers of white gypsum.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably overlies the Bukhara Fm and Suluktin Fm
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by the Alay Fm
Regional extent
Fergana Depression. Correlated with the middle part of the Givar Fm of the Southwest Gissar (Abdusamatov, 1991), upper part of the Kainarbulak Fm of the Prishashkent region, Nurin Fm or lower part of the Sugralin Fm of the Kyzylkum.
